Belagavi, EXPRESS News: In a touching display of gratitude and rural sentiment, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah was showered with blessings by Akkatayi Languti, a woman from Suttatti village in Raybag taluk, at Belagavi airport today.

Akkatayi, who recently made headlines for using her Gruhalakshmi scheme money to serve a traditional ‘holige’ meal to her entire village, was honored by the Chief Minister for her generous act. Upon receiving the recognition, she offered a heartfelt blessing to Siddaramaiah, saying, “May your hand be raised high, O king who feeds the nation.”

The elderly woman didn’t stop there. She continued her benediction, stating, “You are the king who feeds the nation. May your hand be raised even higher. You who rule the state should rule the country. You should continue to rule like this. May good come to the nation.”

Akkatayi was accompanied by other women from her village, who joined in blessing the Chief Minister. They expressed their reverence, saying, “We worship Goddess Lakshmi. We pray to the goddess that obstacles be destroyed.”

Visibly moved by the women’s blessings, CM Siddaramaiah responded, “May your blessings remain like this. As long as our government is in power, the Gruhalakshmi scheme will not stop. Every month, it will continue to reach you” This statement reaffirms the government’s commitment to the welfare scheme that has positively impacted many rural women.

The event concluded with Minister Lakshmi Hebbalkar honoring Akkatayi and the other women by presenting them with sarees and the auspicious turmeric-kumkum.
